Do you offer transportation services?Yes, we offer private transportation. It's a door-to-door service (airport, apartment, house, or hotel) to Hotel Holbox By Xaloc. This service includes highway transfer, ferry tickets from Chiquilá to Holbox, and taxi from the ferry dock to the hotel. The cost depends on the number of people and your point of origin. Payment is made upon arrival at the hotel and can be made in cash or by credit or debit card (all cards are accepted). To arrange for one of our trusted drivers to meet you with your name on a sign at the airport exit or your preferred location, please contact us, and we will be with you throughout the journey.

How to get from Cancun to Holbox?You can hire our private transportation service, or choose other transfer options:
· Traveling by car is recommended. The highway is an option for traveling from Cancún to Chiquila, and the trip takes approximately 2 hours. You can also take the free road, which takes a little longer, about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Upon arriving in Chiquila, you'll find ample parking along the main road; the approximate cost is $100 MXN per day. We do not recommend driving vehicles onto the island in order to preserve Holbox's characteristic sandy streets.

Once in Chiquilá, you can take a connecting ferry to Holbox. -
What is the ferry schedule?In Holbox there are two ferry companies, the 9 Hermanos shipping company which leaves at specific times (7,8,9,10, etc.) and Holbox Express which leaves at mid-hours (7:30,8:30,9:30,10:30, etc.).
The approximate crossing time from Chiquilá to Holbox or from Holbox to Chiquilá is 30 minutes , and the schedules are as follows:
· Chiquilá to Holbox : The first ferry leaves at 6:00 a.m. and the last one at 9:30 p.m. · Holbox to Chiquila : The first ferry leaves at 5:00 AM and the last one at 8:30 PM .
Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket offices located in Chiquilá and/or Holbox. The cost is $300mxn per person; this price may vary if you purchase a round trip ticket.

How to get from the pier to the Hotel Holbox by Xaloc?A: Upon arriving on the island, you'll find the taxi stand to the left of the ferry terminal. From there, you can take a taxi directly to the hotel. The approximate cost is $150 MXN for up to 4 people, and the ride takes about 8 minutes. However, if you'd like to explore the island from the moment you arrive, you can walk, as we're about 15-20 minutes from the ferry terminal.
We recommend taking a taxi for a more comfortable transfer. -
What are the check-in and check-out times?· Check-in is at 3:00 PM, but if you arrive earlier, we have a space to store your luggage and you can use the hotel facilities from the moment you arrive. If your room is ready before 3:00 PM, we will gladly give it to you.
· Check-out is at 12:00 PM, but we offer luggage storage and you can use the hotel facilities. We are also available to assist you with early departures. -
Is the reception open 24 hours?Reception hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., but we have a night watchman who can assist you in any situation. We suggest you inform us of your arrival and/or departure time so we can be ready for you.
If you arrive after 10:30 p.m., check-in will take place the following morning. -
What are the opening hours of the swimming pools?We have two swimming pools, one in the family area and another just for adults, both are open from 8am to 8pm.

What are the restaurant's opening hours?The restaurant's hours of operation are as follows:
Breakfast: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Breakfast is served only in the restaurant. If you need to leave the hotel before the established hours, whether for a tour or an early check-out, please inform reception so we can provide you with a boxed breakfast (sandwich, fruit, and a granola bar).
Snack and beverage service: 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This service is available throughout the hotel, including room service, poolside service, and beach service. -
What kind of breakfast is included?Breakfast is continental style. Upon arrival, our team will greet you with a refreshing drink, a fruit plate, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate; toast; and you can choose one dish from the menu, such as eggs any style, enchiladas, chilaquiles, pancakes, or enmoladas. We also offer healthier, vegan, and vegetarian options. If you have any food intolerances or allergies, please let us know when making your reservation.

What kind of diet do they follow?All our bookings include breakfast, and we also offer half-board and full-board options. For more information, please contact us.

What type of currency do they use at the hotel?At the hotel we use the Mexican peso and the American dollar.

Should I bring cash or can I pay by credit card?We recommend bringing cash, as there are a few ATMs on the island, but they often don't have enough cash or lose signal. At the hotel, you can pay by credit and/or debit card (all cards are welcome), but for external services (restaurants, tours, rentals, shops, etc.), a small commission will likely be charged on card payments.

Is it possible to exchange currency on the island?Yes, we have currency exchange (euro and US dollar) at the hotel, but we also have two exchange bureaus in the center of the island.

Is the hotel accessible for people with reduced mobility?Due to the paving of the island, which consists of white sand paths, and the architecture of the Hotel Holbox by Xaloc, we consider it not to be an ideal destination for people with reduced mobility.

Do you have internet service?Hotel Holbox by Xaloc is a small ecotourism hotel ideal for disconnecting and relaxing. For this reason, internet access is only available in the common areas near reception, such as the library, relaxation area, lobby, and restaurant. We do not offer internet in the guest rooms. Allow yourself to disconnect and enjoy paradise for a few days. It's worth it!

Can drones be used on Holbox Island?Holbox Island is part of the Yum Balam Biosphere Reserve, home to a wide variety of wildlife, including pelicans, flamingos, great egrets, wild ducks, and storks. It is an important birdwatching destination due to its biodiversity and ecosystems, with over 150 bird species recorded. For this reason, the use of drones is prohibited throughout the island.
We would like to remind you that it is also a serious offense to ride bicycles and other vehicles (golf carts, motorcycles, ATVs, etc.) on sandbars or along the beach. Sea turtles nest on well-preserved sandy beaches with minimal human activity. Mexico has several nesting sites, and Holbox Island is among the most important. -
Does the hotel accept pets?Raccoons, among other wild animals, are part of the local fauna of this beautiful island. As they are animals in their natural habitat, they can pose a risk to our beloved companions; therefore, the hotel does not accept pets.

Is there sargassum in Holbox?Sargassum is not usually found in Holbox, but occasionally, this seaweed or seagrass arrives with the north winds and mixes with seashells. This mixture forms sand that later creates coastal dunes, protecting our beautiful island. Furthermore, this cycle contributes to the balance of the ecosystem.

When is whale shark season?Each year, between 800 and 1,400 whale sharks arrive near Holbox to feed on plankton and reproduce in this part of the Mexican Caribbean.
Whale shark watching season in Holbox runs from May to September, but the best time is from mid-June to September. During this period, you can also enjoy another natural phenomenon: bioluminescence. While bioluminescence occurs year-round, these months are the best time to see it. Flamingo season runs from April to October.
